FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
High fired stoneware is a type of pottery that is fired at a high temperature, typically around 1200°C. This process creates a durable and dense material that is ideal for everyday use. Stoneware can be glazed or left unglazed and is often used to make dishes, plates, cups, and other homeware items.
At Pritha we use GAS fired kiln to create our pieces.
The uncertainty of Gas fired kin, temperature variation, change in draft patterns and the amount of oxygen enables glazes to have unique variation in shade, texture and even colours.
This is a beauty of ceramics which is celebrated and cherished.

High-Fired ceramics are cured at 1220 deg. centigrade, so be sure they will be able to handle Ovens and Microwaves (unless mentioned)
Like all ceramics, ensure ceramics are not exposed to extreme temperature shocks ( Like dunking a ceramic baking tray in water just after pulling out of an oven, ceramic will crack and so will our heart !)
Ceramics are extremely durable but of course they are not break proof. Our ceramics are fired twice sometimes even three times in a kiln at temperatures upwards of 1220°C. This ensures durability and strength. Not only is studio pottery more sustainable to buy than plastic counterparts, you also help a local business thrive!
Ceramics can survive for centuries if cared properly. China & Japan are countries where ceramics are highly valued and heirloom pieces are passed through generations.
All our products are extremely fragile and in some cases big in size. This means that we have to ensure the packaging is not only buffered on all sides but also big enough to incorporate all the pieces comfortably. Big packaging is always more expensive to ship than a small package.
We also use eco-friendly packing material, fills and cartons to ensure you receive the orders in one piece.
